Commercials That Make Me Cry

*The Liberty Mutual commercial that depicts the "Pay it Forward" attitude: a woman keeps a man's cup of coffee from falling off the table, an onlooker helps someone who fell on the sidewalk, another onlooker holds the elevator for someone, and so forth...

*The Sylvan Learning Center commercial where a mother celebrates her birthday and her son hands her a present. "Your report card?", she asks. Then opens it, pauses, and inhales a sigh.
(The commercial was often scheduled before my newscast and several people would make fun of me welling up before we went on air.)

Any for you?

Why I Am the Luckiest Person in the World

As I walked past the vending machine at work, I noticed a Hershey's bar hanging from its place... waiting for someone to shake the machine enough for it to release to its freedom.
So what would any good, helpful soul do but help?

Alas. So you jest, "So you got a free candy bar. So what? How does that make you so darn lucky?"

It has happened to me TWICE this week!

All hail chocolate Hershey's!!!

My Two Day Trip

Ah! Portland! One of my true loves!

I love your green trees, your blue waters, and your moderate temperatures! Your new tram to OHSU kinda' creeps me out, but that's okay. I'm willing to tolerate it as long as I get to enjoy the rest of the skyline.

I wish I'd had a longer visit. I didn't get to see my friends Kelly or Emily as I'd hoped. :( Instead, I spent my time with the family. Corey came with me and met my brother and his family, plus my sister-in-law's family, and my aunt and uncle. My mom was also in town for a visit (my nephew was getting baptized). Quite the ZOO!
I was also able to meet Corey's sister. She lives near Hood River. She's really cool! She came into Portland so we could eat at Portland City Grill. We spent the evening chowing on a whole bunch of tapas and enjoying the view of the city.

And now I'm back in the freakin' freezing snowy weather. I will be back in Portland in a couple months. I can't stand being away!!!

Why I Can Die a Happy Woman

Last night I scored a free ticket to see one of my most favorite performers ever: Suzanne Vega. She was performing with a few other notables, including Joan Osborne and Nellie McKay. I loved it!

I had received tickets to a show of hers before, but I ended up not going because I was asked out on a date and figured the guy wouldn't want to go hear chick music. I have been bummed about it since! But now I got another chance! :) (many morals to be learned from this my dears!)

This makes me think about the many other lifelong hopes I've accomplished so far: marathon, falling in love, working at the network, getting a master's degree...

Now, I'm thinking about the other things I want to do. I'm thinking of it as a backward obituary; I'm looking forward to the stories I will someday tell. So here are some things I'd like to do before I die:
*Get married and be a good wife
*Have kids and be a good mom
*Celebrate a 50 year anniversary with my husband
*Learn Spanish
*Learn how to sail
*Have my own show on my own terms
*Be a backup singer
*Sing on Broadway
*Play an important role in philanthropy
*Travel to: Brazil, Mayan Ruins, Australia, the rest of Europe, China, and parts of Africa
*Teach college kids
*Enjoy the art of cooking
*Be right in the eyes of God

This is a good start

I am still debating whether I want to put "jump out of an airplane." I really don't ever want to do that. My biggest fear is falling to my death. Turbulence freaks me out, so why the heck would I want to "jump out of an airplane"?

Okay. Your turn.
